Lamar County High Point Trip Report
Date: February 8, 2001

From downtown Guin take H278 for 2.5 miles turning left onto CR39 for 2.7 miles coming to a crest on
the road. This is area one of two and the highest point looks to have been severed in half by the road
excavation. On the left is the obvious high area remaining and a walk along the cliff edging the road
takes care of this area.
Another half mile on the right is the second, and probably highest, area in the county. This beautiful
location belongs to a local doctor who is constructing a home and the current residents on the property, in
another home, are his son's family, Stuart and Lisa Henson (205 412-1033). They were very cordial in
allowing me to wander the grounds and were welcome to future visitors. A phone call in advance would
be appreciated.
