Lowndes County High Point Trip Report

This county has three areas found on DeLorme pages 51 and 52. Topo maps are advised.

Area 1: From I-65, exit 142, proceed east on H185 to Logan (2.3 miles). Continue east on CR4 for 4.0 miles to Flatwoods Church and another 2.0 miles to dirt road on right about 100 yards beyond Crenshaw county line. Continue 0.5 mi. up dirt road. Highest point of road crosses highpoint contour area. Highest area appears to be to the left.

Areas 2 and 3: From I-65, exit 142, proceed west on H185, through Ft. Deposit, for 3.9 miles to where road begins left turn. Continue straight ahead for 1.1 miles on dirt road. Just before road begins descent hike up rough road to right to Barganier Hill. BM and survey sign are still there. For next area continue to drive down the dirt road for another 100 yards and hike rough road, blocked by a gate, to the left. There are various paths to gain the highpoint which is on a wide-open plateau.
