Talladega County High Point Trip Report
Horn Mountain
Date: May 13, 2000
Author: Bill Jacobs
This cohp is a pleasant hike or a pleasant drive with a high wheeled vehicle. There are no private
property concerns. Use page 32 in the DeLorme map atlas.
From Talladega, Al, proceed south on H77 for about ten miles. The dirt road to Horn Mountain is to the
right, climbing steeply, about 100 yards prior to the turnoff to the left going to Chandler Springs.
Continue up this dirt road for several miles to gated turnoff to right. A fourth of a mile up this road is
Horn Mountain with old picnic grounds and shelters. Prior to Horn Mountain turnoff is a road leading to
the left to some microwave towers which can be mistaken for the highpoint. Saw several flocks of wild
turkeys on the hike.
