Benton County High Point Trip Report

I was expecting the HP to get a lot more scenic in AR than OK, and the first one did not disappoint. I drove up Whitney Mountain, and visited both areas. I could not find the BM proper, but did find a nearby witness marker. It is close to the road, in a grassy parklike setting. The BM photo came out blurred, but looks like "POOR 1940 NO 2" (?). Talked briefly with a lady in one of the houses across the street, think the name was something like "Rizza".

There is quite a bit of development on the mountain top since map photos were made in 1957. These houses make it hard to stroll around the large flat top, or use a sight level to figure out where the highest bit of ground is.
