Chicot County High Point Trip Report
on Eudora North quadrangle
Date: August 31, 2001
Author: Hans Haustein
Chicot County's highpoints are easy to reach right off US Highway 65 north of Eudora. Just as Jobe
Wymore described, the highpoints are reached by going to the fairground's southeast corner. It rained the
day I was there, so the ground was quite muddy.
The first area is reached by taking game trails into a thick wooded area, the actual highpoint was impossible
to determine.
The second area is reached by going south from the first area about 500 feet along an old trace that follows
an electric fence line enclosing a horse pasture. The road trace was really muddy with several sections that
had large mud holes. The second area is just south of the horse pasture in a tall grass area with scattered trees.
The highpoint in this area was also impossible to determine.
So when going to Chicot County be prepared to plow through a lot of vegetation to claim the highpoint,
winter would also be the optimum time to visit.
Note: West Carroll Parish, LA can be reached in about 20 minutes from the Chicot County highpoints.
