Dallas County High Point Trip Report
45 unnamed areas on Tulip and Willow USGS quadrangles (490+ ft)
Date: March 30, 2003
Author: Hans Haustein
I don't have any specific directions for reaching all the highpoints in Dallas County. The areas are centered
around the junction of State Highway's 9 and 46 in Dallas County. I just loaded all the points in my GPS,
took the quad sheets, and a plotted aerial photo of the area. There are numerous landowners to be dealt
with when accessing the areas in Dallas County. All the landowners I contacted for access were very
friendly and had no problem with my request, one even said come back anytime you want. Some of the
areas are in pastures, others are in clear cut areas, and still others are in thick pine plantations.
This county was completed in two visits, finishing on March 30, 2003.
The county requires a lot of walking, fence crossing, landowner schmoozing, and hand-leveling.
It is best to do this county in early spring, outside of hunting seasons and bug seasons.
I have all of the points for Dallas County on my
web site in EASY GPS format.
