Greene County High Point Trip Report
on Lafe and Boydsville quadrangles
Date: March 8, 2002
Author: Hans Haustein
To reach the first two of the three areas from Beech Grove drive east on Highway 34 for 1.9 miles to
Greene County Road (GCR) 145. Go west on GCR 145 for 0.2 mile to GCR 125 and then go north for 1.1
miles to signs for Scatter Creek and Silver Creek. Continue north on GCR 125 for another 1.1 miles to a
mail box and drive for 4830 GC 125. Go west on this drive past a house for 0.2 mile to a split in the drive
with a address sign for 4828 and 4826 stay to the south and 0.4 mile down this drive there is a Posting.
The first of the two highpoint area is south of the road just beyond the posting. The BM Hooker is 0.1 mile
further down this drive at a junction of a lesser trail to the south. The high area is just southeast of the BM
at the edge of the woods. I hand-leveled between the two areas and the area by the BM appeared to be
slightly higher. I did not drive any further west down the drive but I assume there is a house at the end.
The third small area located on the Boydsville Quad is a gravel pile along north side of the road, thus making
it unnatural and not in the running. The gravel is from a gravel mine near the gravel pile.
From hand-leveling and elimination of the third area the area near the BM Hooker is the highest point in
Greene County on Crowleys Ridge.
