Johnson County High Point Trip Report

Garlands Knob is located in the Ozark National Forest just south of the Newton County line and west of
State Highway 21 in northern Johnson County. Travel north on Highway 21 from the Johnson\Newton
county line approximately 3.4 miles to its junction with a dirt road leading southwest. There is a sign for a
Moonhull Full Gospel Church. Turn west on the dirt road. After about 0.6 miles fork right heading
southwest. At 2.3 miles from Highway 21 there is another split. Take the left fork, signed FR 1417, and
also with a Moonhull Full Gospel Church sign. The road crosses back into Johnson County soon after this fork.
The highest areas are a couple hundred feet uphill to the right side of the road. There are three 2,360 ft
contours along the ridge in Johnson County. The thick forest and waist-high weeds make it difficult to
determine which is the highest.
