Greenlee County High Point Trip Report

I drove to Clifton and Morenci in Greenlee county on AZ's eastern border. US-191 is an amazing highway that zig-zags up the White Mountains with 180 degree turns, no shoulders and no barriers for inattentive drivers. Amazing scenery. Much snow on the ground, especially above 8500 feet or so. After almost 2 hours out of Clifton, I arrived at the Greenlee HP area, parked just north of milepost 227, slapped on the snowshoes and hiked through the trees to the meadow and the rocks that mark the hp. Lovely scenery with the snow, but not much in the way of views, although the drive had plenty of beautiful vistas.
