Climbed up from Madera canyon on various dates. This is a popular "Tucson classic" hike. I first remember doing it with Paul, Neil & Tom. The Bellows spring was pretty impressive for a youngster in dry AZ, and we saw some possible bear signs. Hiked up it again some years later.

October 9, 1999 update:

Hiked up from Gardner Canyon trailhead. Trail is in surprisingly good shape, as it does not get the traffic that the more popular Madera Canyon trails get. However, you should have a pickup or better to get to the summit. There was some water in Gardner Canyon at the trailhead, but Baldy Spring was not flowing.
