This was the first of a 5-peak San Francisco Bay Area highpoint blitzkrieg. We arrived shortly after the opening of the park at 8:00 am. Due to time factors we opted to drive to the summit. A bitter wind and near freezing temps made for a short visit. Able to identify at least ten county highpoints from the summit, with the most distant being Shasta County's Mt Lassen to the north. The Sierra Nevada was only vaguely visible, much to our disappointment. Urban encroachment continues at the base of the mountain, and even just two days after a winter storm, visibility was already being obscured by smog in the Bay Area communities and the Central Valley.
