Placer County Highpoint Trip Report
two points on northwest slopes of Mount Baldy (9,040+ feet)
Date: September 22, 2008
Author: Adam Helman
Jerry Brekhus (of Montana) recently located a new highpoint for Placer County
that is most assuredly higher than the longstanding Granite Chief (9,006 feet).
Mount Baldy lies across the state line in Nevada. The Tahoe Rim Trail shown on the
USGS 24,000:1 topographic chart
crosses the state boundary prior to coming fortuitously near the newly-found liner.
I wish to organize a first-ever group of "true" California county highpoint completers.
Perhaps sometime in calendar 2009 would be convenient for many of us.
