Indefinite Closure
Access to the trails and roads on Hot Springs Mountain, the highest point in San Diego County,
is now restricted. We drove out there yesterday (March 12th) and were greeted by a stern guard
at the entrance who now packs a gun. He said the Los Coyotes Reservation tribal council
has closed the reservation to all non-Indians.
This has been in effect for possibly two months and will last indefinitely.
He gave no reason for the action and suggested we check the
Reservation's web site.
At present the site offers no information.
