Arapahoe County High Point Trip Report
unnamed areas on Smoky Hill Rd
Date: May 11, 1996
Author: David Olson
I had set my mind on hiking to the HP of Arapahoe county.
I got started at 9:40 am., took the 0 bus down Broadway to Evans,
the 21 bus east on Evans to Parker Road. There I got tired of waiting
for the 83ltd bus and started hiking. The 83ltd passed me along the way.
I hiked Parker - Quincy - Smoky Hill Road out to the HP. I started hiking
at 11:05 am and got to the HP after 4:00 pm. The last convenience store
was at Smoky Hill and Buckley.
By the return trip my feet hurt from blisters,
and more hurt besides. I made it to Smoky Hill and Orchard, where I bummed
a ride from a member of the Vineyard church, to Smoky Hill and Buckley.
From there I called a cab, Freedom Cabs, $17.40 (had to call them twice)
to Parker and Alameda; and I took buses from there.
While hiking I got a start on reading Dad's memoirs and Intruder
in the Dust by Wm. Faulkner.
