Entered Rocky Mountain National Park via the Fall River entrance on US 34. Drove a couple of miles
over to the Lawn Lake trail head. The hike follows the well signed Lawn Lake trail up to Lawn Lake and
then continues up past the Crystal Lakes turn off to "the Saddle". Follow the trail up to the Saddle. At
this point you will be between Fairchild Mountain on your left and Hauges Peak on your right. Turn right
and contour your way up over grassy slopes to mixed talus for the final scramble to the summit. Normally
great views. I managed to do the final 1,200 feet in a snow storm with very limited visibility. Be aware
that the rock and grass can become extremely slippery when wet or snow covered. Makes for an
interesting down climb.
