New Castle County Highpoint Trip Report
Ebright Azimuth
Date: August 4, 2005
Author: Scott Surgent
Normally one report for this 'HP' would be more than enough but we had the good
fortune to catch the attention of Doreen Kupczyk (spelling?), the self-appointed
keeper of records and historian of the Delaware HP. After visiting the sign and
walking toward the trailer park, she came out of her home to have us sign her book,
plus to give us some history of the area and the HP.
Be sure to touch the witness mark set in the ground on the west side of Ebright
Road, near the sidewalk where a bit has been removed and painted white.
Nearby decorative boulders can be ignored. The field is a 'maybe'.
Generally, walk everywhere, including the trailer park. She directed us to a farm house about
500 feet northwest, which actually straddles the PA/DE state line. Doreen gave
us a who's who of previous and current landowners, previous visitors including
those who spread Jack Longacre’s ashes, and a wealth of interesting information
about the area.
This was a repeat visit for me, Beth's first time and her third state HP. A lot of fun!
