Palm Beach County High Point Trip Report

(addendum to my report of 1-23-00)
In my earlier report I said that the map of the Jupiter quadrangle I was using lacked
contour lines. Mike Schwartz very kindly sent me a copy of the pertinent portion of
the Jupiter quad that had the contour lines, so I went back and re-visited the area.
I agree with Mike that the spot elevation of 53 is at the end of a road in a development.
So for this area, you should follow the directions given in my previous report except
that after going north on US 1 about 1.7 miles or so, you should turn left (west) at
Bluffs Blvd. into a development ("The Bluffs").
Take the second right (Ridge Rd.) and follow this to its end in a cul-de-sac.
This area is the area shown on the topo as having the 53-foot spot elevation.
Wander around the lawns, covering the highest areas. However, I must say that first,
I'm not convinced that the area is a natural surface any more, and second,
that it's significantly higher than the 46-foot spot elevation to the north.
Thus, I must reluctantly recommend that the area near Lanata Rd., on private property,
be visited also.
