Baker County Highpoint Trip Report
Date: January 20, 2005
Author: Bill Jacobs
Some additional notes to Denis Dean's thorough report:
"Highpoint one" and the "farmer's buildings" in "highpoint two"
described in Denis' report are owned by Tony Smith. He asked that permission be obtained
before accessing his land. He lives a short distance up the road on a lane off
to the left of the main road.
Mr. Smith said "highpoint one" is locally called Mulberry Hill, in spite of
their being no mulberry bushes. It also was the consensus of five generations
of Smiths that Mulberry Hill is higher than the area with the "farm buildings".
My five minutes of learned observations came to a different conclusion.
This is an intriguing problem for an experienced "leveler" to resolve.
The "farm buildings" were reported to be lower than the church and graveyard
in the same contour.
