Calhoun County Highpoint Trip Report

From Suttons Corner, GA (intersection of US 27 and SR 37), go east on SR 37 to CR 92. I went east on
CR 92 to a house that is just west of the Clay/Calhoun county line. There was a man and woman in the
front yard and I asked if they owned the property on the other side of the county line.
They said no that a man from Edison (GA) owned it and that he probably wouldn't mind a casual hiker on it.
I parked my car just east of the county line.
The first point is in this area and appears to be on the county line bordering the aforementioned house's
property. I headed north along a fence and an overgrown field. There was a lot of underbrush but most of
it was not the prickly, thorny variety. A fence separates Clay and Calhoun county at the northern 400-foot contour.
The highest point seemed to be at the fence line in very thick brush. I was only able to reach my
hand into the brush and touch what I felt was the highpoint. This is probably the lowest of the three highpoints.
The third high area lies a nasty 0.2 mile bushwhack south of the road. Waist-high briers are the
norm on this neglected field. When I got to the top I could see SR 37 to the south and the Clay county
house to the northwest. Access to this point would be a little shorter from SR 37. The house shown on the
topo on the south side of CR 92 near the middle contour is gone, only a brick chimney remains.
