Author: Kevin Williamson
From I-85 south take exit 56 for Collingsworth Road. Turn right onto Collingsworth Rd. and go 0.1
miles. At this point Collingsworth Rd. curves to the right. Proceeding straight, the main road becomes
Weldon Rd. All distances are from this point.
area 1 (East)
Travel north on Collingsworth 0.2 miles to a power substation on the left. Park
at the substation. Enter woods to the right of the substation, and proceed uphill. This land is not posted.
area 2 (Southwest)
From the intersection of Collingsworth Rd. and Weldon Rd., travel
west of Weldon Rd. 1.9 miles to the first stop sign. Turn right onto hwy. 29/14. Travel north on Hwy.
29/14 for 0.5 miles to Ridley Rd. on the left. Turn left onto Ridley Rd. and travel 0.5 miles to a house on
the right. The correct house sets back from the road. The sign next to the driveway was not very
welcoming; however, the homeowner was just the opposite, very nice. He liked the possibility that the
county highpoint may be in his front yard.
area 3 (Northwest)
Return to Hwy. 29/14. Turn left onto Hwy. 29/14. Travel 0.3 miles to
a power line cut. Turn left under power lines into a large dirt lot. This is also the entrance into an auto
repair shop. This area was not posted. Park off to the left and walk to the rise in front of you. The
highpoint is to your left at the edge of the tree line.
