Douglas County High Point Trip Report

West of Atlanta, this hill is conveniently along I-20 and demands to be mounted by all who pass by.
I noticed some construction at the exit and I did not go to the town of Villa Rica as another trip report
mentions, so I offer this update.
From exit 26 off I-20, go north several hundred feet to a turnoff to US78/GA8. This seems to be on the far
east side of Villa Rica. From the stop sign on US78/GA8, turn right (east) and go on US78/GA8 for 3 miles
to Andy Mountain Road. Turn right (south) and then turn left (east) at the first intersection which is Andy
Mountain Court. Go 0.2 mile to it's end and park at a white brick house.
Walk the drive to the left of the house, and then veer right along the power line right-of-way uphill to the summit.
To make walking easier, follow the faint road along the tree line instead of going deep into the
right of way. There is a posted sandy road that leads up the HP, and this can be accessed from Andy
Mountain Road by going past the intersection of Andy Mountain Court. The summit is celebrated by a huge
transmission line tower, plenty of broken glass, and a fire ring.
