From the center of Barnesville, drive east on US 41/Georgia 18 for 0.65 mile to
Sims Street and turn left (north). Continue north on Sims and then angle right
for 0.7 mile to Hog Mountain Road and turn left. Continue north on this road
roughly another 0.35 mile to a gate on your left (# 172, not posted) and park here.
The paved road going over the ridge no longer has a kink in it as shown
on the topo and there isn’t an east-west road/path along the crest of the ridge anymore.
Hike west from the gate about 0.25 mile to some very large water tanks.
Find a way up the bank here and climb steeply to the old lookout on top.
The highest surviving natural ground is just west of the lookout.
The water tanks dominate your view to the west and you will be surprised
how deeply they are cut into this ridge to accommodate them.
