Laurens County Highpoint Trip Report
one small area 1/4 mile northeast of Eason Hill Church (430+ ft)
Date: March 9, 2007
Author: Michael Schwartz
From the intersection of GA 112 and US 80 in Allentown (1.5 miles north of exit
32 on I-16), go east on US 80 for 1.7 miles to a crest. Drive a little bit
further and turn right onto a sandy track that runs alongside some mobile homes.
With care this can be driven to about 100 feet east of the summit.
Another option is to drive 1.4 miles east from the 112/80 junction and turn
right (south) onto Eason Hill Church Road. Park 0.2 mile south and hike east
through pine rows and a grassy field to the top, about 0.2 mile distant.
No postings on either route.
About 0.5 mile east of the 112/80 junction is a cable-gated woods road that
offers access to the marked Laurens/Wilkinson/Bleckley/Twiggs quadrifinium.
If interested, follow the woods road downhill until it crosses the north-south
drainage, then take another road heading north on the west side of the drainage.
Some distance uphill another very short road leads left into a clearing and the
four-county stone marker. There are quite a few roads in the woods, none shown
on the topo, making GPS helpful.
Note that the Bleckley County highpoints are just a few miles southwest.
