Talbot County High Point Trip Report
Date: June 13, 2000
Author: Fred Dale
By bike, it's much easier to park, but note in Fred Lobdell's report the crucial requirement of running the
ridge line up and down far enough to be sure you've covered the county line on the spine of the ridge.
Actually, this HP might not be a leaner; the slope on the ridge-back in the vicinity of the
Talbot/Meriwether line grades out quite level in a 400' by 100' area there, thus promoting a sport of
hopping atop the highest-looking small boulders in the area. At any rate, I'd definitely recommend
walking in from the county line sign on US Alt 27 rather than an extended bushwhack from up above on
Pine Mountain's top. There are just too many small watersheds forming in the area to be sure, from the
top, just which ridgelet to descend. By the way, it appears this HP is not actually in the FDR State Park as
previously written.
