Cherokee County High Point Trip Report
Date: July 14, 2002
Author: Bob Schwab
This highpoint is a "liner." From the intersection of US 59 and Iowa 3 north of Cherokee, drive north on
Route 3 for 6.6 miles to Larrabee and the intersection with County C16. Turn right on C16 and continue
east for another 8 miles to the county line (10th Avenue). Turn right and immediately park on the side of
the road. From here, you can see windmills to the northeast, beans are planted in the fields to the west
(Cherokee County), and corn is in the fields to the east (Buena Vista County). The highpoint appears to be
in the middle of the road. Higher ground intrudes from the east side of the road and slopes gently to the
west into the beanfield.
While you are in this area, consider visiting the 4 highpoints of Buena Vista County, which are just a few
miles east of this site.
