Jasper County High Point Trip Report
Date: July 2, 2001

Jon Mann's report is great. I hand-leveled both sites (the south area = the church, the north area = the house).
The highest area appears to be at the church. It levels higher than the house. The house levels just
slightly lower than the church. The crops interfered with leveling so I had to stand in a roadside ditch and
do relative-leveling to both areas. Someone needs to do this in the winter when the crops are gone and you
can lie down on top of each HP.
By the way, the church is St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was established in 1874. It towers above the flat
countryside. As you approach, you can actually see the land rise of Island Grove, although this "town" isn't
really much; just a few scattered homes.
