From I-55 southbound, take exit 52 (Illinois 16, Litchfield) east for 0.8 mile to traffic light at Old Route 66.
Turn right (south) on Old 66. Illinois has done a nice job of marking all the various routes that US 66 has
taken over the years. Stay on the main Old 66 (you can tell it used to be a 4-lane divided highway, but only
two lanes are in use now). Travel south approximately 4 miles, turn right (west) on Grosenhower Road.
Grosenhower Road will jog slightly at the county line, continue on it 0.3 mile past the county line to
Hopfker (?) Road. Turn left (south) on Hopfker Road. The road will go south for 0.7 mile, then west 0.3 mile,
then bend back due south. From the last bend, travel 0.3 mile south - the rise will be immediately to
your left (east) in the field. You can then continue on Hopfker Road past three more bends, before it comes
to a stop sign at Litchfield Trail. Turn left (south) on Litchfield Trail for 0.5 mile to St. Johns Rd.
Turn left (east) on St. Johns Rd for 0.6 of mile back to Old 66. Follow Old 66 around Mt. Olive to Illinois 138,
turning right (east) on IL 138 to I-55 1/10 mile later.
