In deep southeastern IL there's a distinct wooded hill, the summit of which is reached by a dirt road. Tim Worth describes this cohp well. Coming from the south in Carmi, find the junction of IL1 & IL14 and go east to 5th Street, taking it north to the edge of town where it becomes Shipley Street. Zero your odometer at 1100E. At mile 6.9 is 2150N so turn left (west). At mile 7.9 is 1025E so turn right (north). At mile 8.7 the road makes a left turn. Instead, go right on a gravel road. It is gated. Coming from the north, take exit 117 off I-64 and go east on 2550N a couple miles to 950E and turn right (south). Go 3.2 miles to 2225N and turn left (east) and go 0.5 mile to the turn and gravel road turnoff.
