Chase County Highpoint Trip Report
eight areas (1,650+ ft)
Date: May 20, 2004
Authors: Bob Martin and Art Tauchen
These areas are in the extreme southeastern corner of the county. They are all on or near the road which
seems to follow the curving spine of HPs. Those off the road are in pasture. Some might be eliminated with
the level but they are so accessible they might as well all be visited.
To get to the area, drive the road between Matfield Green and Madison in Greenwood County.
You could approach by driving north from the road a mile east of Taterville.
From Matfield Green, the road crosses I35 and then reaches the Chase-Greenwood county line.
After leaving the county line and turning north,
it reaches an intersection and makes a sharp turn east.
From here we measured mileage and found 2 areas at 3.2 miles, a large area on the road at 3.9 miles,
with a road leading south to another area. At 4.6 miles there is a small area south of the
road called Texaco Hill. At 7.5 miles a road leads west between 2 areas.
At 8.3 miles a road goes northwest to the final area.
