Morton County High Point Trip Report
Date: January 3, 1996

After I visited the Texas county OK HP southwest of Elkhart KS I headed the
short distance northwest to the south set of Morton county KS HPs.
There are a cluster of 12 possible HP areas located west of Elkhart.
I hiked, a lot, around the main set of possible HP areas - a bit hilly on the
north side of the group. I visited the CO-KS-OK tri-corner,
and the one possible HP area on the northeast corner of that road junction.
There is a monument to the state tri-point on that hill,
and another monument west across the road on the companion hill in southeast-most Colorado.
Then I drove back to Elkhart and north on the KS S.H. 27. I stopped briefly at a
Santa Fe trail monument overlooking the Cimarron River, then I continued northwards
and westwards, to hike/visit the last possible HP area for Morton county KS,
a very flat area on the state border.
