Woodson County High Point Trip Report

From Gridley, drive south on a good gravel road 8 miles to a stop sign. Drive another 1.5 miles to the
Kimball Ranch on the left and gain permission for the hike. Nobody was home here or at the house just to
the north when I visited. Drive back to the stop sign intersection and turn left (west) and go 3 miles and
park at a gate on the right. This land is posted "No Hunting without written permission from the Kimball Ranch".
I crawled under the gate and went up the old road to the crest at 0.3 mile, then hiked west up past
some ponds to the highpoint. There is a hitching post and cattle trough at the top; the cows ran when I
walked up the road, but came jogging toward me when I walked up to the trough. There are very few
houses around here, and nobody drove by while I was there. The roads are dusty and you can see traffic for
a couple of miles. There is a nice view from the top.
