Trigg County High Point Trip Report

Trigg County has two candidate areas on Buie Knob in the northeastern part of the county. To reach them
from US 68 Bus and Highway 139 in Cadiz, follow Highway 139 1.2 miles to Highway 124. Then take
Highway 124 for 9.4 miles to Cerulean and Highway 624 passing over Interstate 24, no interchange,
along the way. Turn right onto Highway 624 and follow it 0.8 mile to Jack Mize Road. Take a right onto Jack
Mize and take it approximately 1.6 miles to a cedar grove on the north side of the road.
Park and hike up the ridge to the north. The cedars soon give way to fairly open deciduous forest. It is
about 0.3 mile to the first 810-foot area in a horseshoe shaped pasture. I saw no cattle, but the pasture
appears to be well used.
Continue north, northeast a short distance along the ridge top to the 813-foot spot elevation,
which is in the northern part of the horseshoe shaped pasture. There are good views from the pasture.
There are no postings along this route.
