Claiborne Parish Highpoint Trip Report

This is an easy one. On LA-518 near the top of a hill, 2 miles west of Athens or 10 miles east of US-79, I turned north on Old Athens Road. After 0.8 mile, I turned right on Fire Tower Road, which is well-graded gravel. After 0.3 more mile a very narrow dirt road covered with pine needles forks left. My Nissan truck had ho trouble with it but a highpointer without high clearance may have to park here and walk the remaining 0.1 mile to a grassy turnaround at the HP. I could find no remaining evidence of the radio tower indicated on the topo map, though there was a lot of junk scattered around.
