LiDAR -- 8 More Missouri Counties Messages ________________________________________________________________________ 1a. LiDAR -- 8 More Missouri Counties From: Andy Hatzos Date: Mon, 09 Dec 2024 03:29:26 MST Continuing with another eight counties in Missouri... Note that this analysis includes new HP areas for Ray and Caldwell counties= . --------------------------------------- *Johnson MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22245 ) )* Originally 7 areas. PB Area 3 can be declared the sole HP. *HP: 1085.3 ft at N38.898429 W94.082743* The next closest spots are PB Area 5 (1083.1 ft) and PB Area 1 (1082.9 ft). (LiDAR: 2023 Missouri) --------------------------------------- *Lafayette MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22248 ) )* Originally just one single area. This area is upheld with no changes. *HP: 1081.8 ft at N38.922220 W94.057151* Note that the Johnson County MO and Lafayette County MO high points are jus= t about 2 miles apart. (LiDAR: 2019 West Central Missouri) --------------------------------------- *Ray MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22276 ) )* Originally just one single area. This area has been eliminated by a single = new HP area that takes over as the winner. The new HP area is about 6 miles= SSE of the original candidate. *NEW HP : 1095.3 ft at N39.362214 W94.146370* The original area is 1092.4 ft at N39.442613 W94.181157. There are a few ot= her spots in the county that get to about 1092 feet, plus one other spot ne= ar the new area that reaches about 1094 feet. However, none of these appear= to be in contention. (LiDAR: 2019 West Central Missouri) --------------------------------------- *Caldwell MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22214 ) )* Originally 2 areas. While one of the original areas remains in contention, = a new HP has also been discovered. *NEW HP : 1047.9 ft at N39.584920 W94.207018* *PB Area 2: 1046.9 ft at N39.586355 W94.192059* Both of the above spots should be visited to claim the county. The new area= is almost high enough to stand on its own, but it's on the edge of a road,= so it's possible it was slightly raised. PB Area 1 only reaches 1044.9 ft,= so it can be eliminated. There are a couple of other rises near the new HP= that hit about 1046 feet, but they aren't high enough to require visiting. (LiDAR: 2020 FEMA NRCS) --------------------------------------- *Daviess MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22230 ) )* Originally 6 areas. PB Area 3 is the winner, but there are multiple separat= e rises within this area. These two spots should be visited to claim the county: *HP1: 1075.2 ft at N39.899166 W94.145592* -- this spot is at a water tower.= It does look like the highest ground is within the fenced area. *HP2: 1075.2 ft at N39.897726 W94.144386* -- this spot is on the side of a = road near a large barn. I ignored a small artificial rise on the back side = of the barn. The northernmost section of PB Area 3 is in the vicinity of a dirt race tra= ck (I-35 Speedway) and the high ground here is clearly artificial. The natu= ral ground near the track looks about 1073-1074 feet. Other areas in the county (including other segments of PB Area 3) are at 10= 73 feet or below. (LiDAR: 2020 FEMA NRCS) --------------------------------------- *Harrison MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22238 ) )* Originally 13 areas. PB Area 1 is the winner. *HP: 1196.5 ft at N40.513350 W94.200814* The second highest point is PB Area 2, which reaches 1192.0 ft. (LiDAR: 2020 FEMA NRCS) --------------------------------------- *Carroll MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22218 ) )* Originally 8 areas. PB Area 1 is the winner, but there are multiple separat= e rises within this area that should be visited. *HP1: 998.2 ft at N39.611366 W93.566604* *HP2: 998.6 ft at N39.610974 W93.571401* *HP3: 998.6 ft at N39.609437 W93.572436* The highest point elsewhere in the county is 995.2 ft, so everything else i= s out of contention. (LiDAR: 2019 West Central Missouri) --------------------------------------- *Livingston MO ( pb ( https://www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=3D22252 ) )* Originally 10 areas. PB Area 1 is the winner. *HP: 991.6 ft at N39.613882 W93.569085* The second highest point is PB Area 2, which reaches 989.3 ft. Note that the Livingston County MO and Carroll County MO high points are wi= thin a half mile of each other. (LiDAR: 2020 FEMA NRCS) --------------------------------------- Thanks, --Andy H -- Here are three more in Missouri. All are good news -- multi-area counties taken down to a single spot. --------------------------- Clark MO (pb) Originally 18 areas. PB Area 5, the location of BM Fairmont, is the winner. HP: 769.2 ft at N40.331580 W91.910353 I took a close look at another area (PB Area 16) and even pulled up a second, older LiDAR dataset for comparison. Based on using both datasets together, I'm confident the Fairmont area is the sole HP. PB Area 16 is about a foot lower than BM Fairmont. (LiDAR: 2021 Northern SEMO and 2014 Clark Lewis Counties) --------------------------- Ralls MO (pb) Originally 22 areas. PB Area 1, the location of BM Gibbs, is the winner. HP: 859.3 ft at N39.589436 W91.240749 The next highest point in the county is 855.9 ft. (LiDAR: 2021 Northern SEMO) --------------------------- Lincoln MO (pb) Originally 6 areas. PB Area 4, on Lloyd Court, is the winner. HP: 989.0 ft at N39.119029 W90.857731 I should note that this area is in the vicinity of a house and an outbuilding, and it might be a little bit artificially raised. However, I'm confident the natural elevation is at least 987 feet, and the next highest point in the county is only 981.6 ft. (LiDAR: 2019 West Central Missouri) ---------------------------
