Craven NC COHP https://apps.nationalmap.gov/3depdem/ LiDAR review 7/11/2022 Andy Martin LiDAR is useful at this location, eliminating (IMHO) the need to visit the contender just NE of US 70. Peakbagger shows three closely grouped 20 meter contours for this COHP. These are small bumps of white sand: https://peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=23039 A fourth contour is located about 5 miles WSW. LiDAR maps of the white bumps show the eastern (~20.62m) and western (~20.54m) are highest: Craven East.jpg Craven East.jpg at http://www.cohp.org/lidar/nc/Craven/ Given how close these bumps are to one another, and the ease of walking, one might as well visit all three. The far west contender Craven by Highway 70 - is lower.jpg comes in at ~19.94 meter - roughly 2 feet lower. This all matches up well with Tom Layton's GIS findings: https://peakbagger.com/climber/ascent.aspx?aid=625942 (three bumps region) "The Craven County GIS site (http://gis.cravencountync.gov/maps/map.htm) has 2-foot contours and shows two 66-foot contours here that correspond to the 20-meter contours on the quad." (US 70 location) "Craven GIS says this tops out in the 64-foot contour."
