Franklin County High Point Trip Report
Crum Hill (2,841 ft) and unnamed point 1,800 feet northwest
Date: July 11, 2001
Author: Trapper Robbins
The trail starts next to a telephone pole at the Tilda Hill / Bliss Road junction - no bushwhacking necessary.
Follow orange blazes and green arrows through the small field north of the nearby house. At the end of the field
(only 100 feet from the road), go left at the junction. Follow this trail/road gently uphill to the east-
northeast for approximately 1/4 mile to a junction; follow the main trail to the right (southeast) more steeply
uphill still following orange blazes. After passing near the north summit (near the cairn on "1800 feet
northwest of Crum Hill") descend on the trail to a junction at the saddle between the north and south summits.
At this point, take the right branch (signed "Whitcomb Summit") heading uphill generally south and southeast.
As Mike Schwartz mentions, you need to leave the trail to get to the top of both summits.
We bushwhacked the long flat Crum Hill area and found the register (placed by the AMC Berkshire Chapter).
We are not convinced that the register is actually on the highest point (which may be farther southeast).
