Found the large parking pullout at the southwest end of Plainfield Pond easily
enough (there isn't a lot in the area to mess up the process). Took a bearing
of due magnetic south and headed uphill through the woods. Followed my nose and
the compass through a classic easy New England bushwhack. Found Fred Lobdell's
"Peck Lumber Company" sign (from Westfields, MA) and pondered its significance
for about a nanosecond. Got to the top in about 25 minutes.
Once on top, I found the #2 reference marker but did not find the BM. Came down
on a due magnetic north heading and ended up right back at the car in about 20 minutes.
Piece o' cake.
