winter route
The park road is closed and the ski area is in operation. We parked at the visitor center on Mountain
Road. (Follow signs to the ski area, then keep driving past it up the hill. The visitor center is at the start
of the road to the summit.) Pick up a free trail map.
We followed the Pine Hill trail 0.75 mi. (650' gain) to the summit. It was clear and cold, so from the
summit Boston's skyscrapers, Stratton Mt in Vermont, and Mt Greylock in the Berkshires were visible. It was
also interesting to be standing on a snow-less summit, being pelted with fine snow from the ski area's
snowmaking equipment, looking at teenagers snowboarding below us.
We returned by the Harrington, Link, Mountain House, Loop, and Bicentennial Trails - 1.25 miles. The
mountain is obviously well trailed.
