Carroll County High Point Trip Report

Rock near the BM in small grove of trees off Harvey Yingling Road (1,120+ ft)

From the Baltimore County Highpoint I proceeded north on PA-516, until you can turn left and head south into Maryland on PA-516. I intersected with US-30, took a right and proceeded north on US-30. At 1.1 miles north of the intersection of US-30 and MD-496, you need to take a left at Harvey Yingling Road. Proceed up to the crest of the road where you will be surrounded by fields. It is pretty obvious if you went past this point, as you will be headed down a draw. There was a place at the top to turn around and park.

I followed a farming road to the grove of trees that is in front of the power lines under which lies the BM implanted in a rock. Hike up the road and through the trees. There are several smaller clumps of vegetative growth in this area under the power lines. There is a rock several feet away from the BM that I believe was the highest. I tramped the little grove pretty well and could find no other high spots. I was able to find the BM in the rock.
