If doing the MD high point alone, park along US 219 at the well marked, orange blazed Backbone Mountain trail, and hike the good trail to the summit. The "Hoye Crest" sign has been refurbished, and the area has been cleared. There are a picnic table, camera stand, and register. Big change from the thorny bushwhack required back in the 1960's.
