Harford County Highpoint Trip Report

At the 23/24 intersection (obvious once you get there but not until that point)
I went back west on 24 and followed Mike Schwartz's excellent directions for the
barn and gas station points.
I proceeded the 0.7 mile to the Route 23 point. The white house (#5510)
seemed obvious. I would not have originally expected the actual HP to be so
close to the road. I would have been wrong.
Continue south on 23 and turn left onto New Park, and go to the state line (obvious).
Find the #41 Mason-Dixon stone as noted by Mike. Take a compass
bearing of due east to the highest point along the state line. As noted by Dan Case,
this puts you closer to the PA back yard than you might otherwise expect.
I felt the highest ground was between the bird house and a large tree.
To get to the eastern border point, go back south on New Park, turn left onto
Broadway, left at the stop sign onto Route 136, and left onto Carea (all well-signed).
At the PA line, head west through the open field approximately 1/2
mile to the high point. Although I did not have my level with me (What WAS I thinking?)
I believe this point is the higher of the two in this area (looking both ways).
For the Whiteford quarry point, go back to Route 136 and turn left.
Continue to the 165 intersection in Whiteford and follow previous directions.
Mike's directions and your nose should get you there easily enough.
Much trash in the vicinity.
On a personal note, I received a phone call from a customer at about
the 136/165 intersection. I was able to walk him through a fairly complex
technical solution while STILL getting to this point. Finally hung up just
before getting back to the car.
