Cadillac Mountain, USGS BM Mount Desert (1,528 ft)

Drive onto Mt. Desert Island on ME 3 and follow signs to Acadia National Park. Once in the park, follow signs to Cadillac Mountain Summit and drive excellent road to summit area. The visibility this day was perfect, and the views were spectacular. A sign on top indicated Katahdin could be seen on the far horizon, and there was indeed a mountain in the distance in just the right position, but Katahdin is 120 miles distant, which seems a stretch. The USGS BM is a short stroll up a wide gravel road to a rock outcrop near some radio towers. I would estimate that only a handful of visitors ever make the trip. I watched a large group walk right by the true summit and not bother to make the 50' detour. This fine twofer earns county and national park highpoint credit.
