We camped at Roaring Brook Campground. Nice Campground. LONG drive. We rose early and were
headed up the Helon Taylor trail to the Knife Edge by 6:30 AM. A decent day below turned to 50mph
winds, fog, and light rain by the time we were on the Knife Edge. Note to self - do not repeat this!
We lived to tell about that, summited, and made for the Saddle Trail, which a ranger gal said
was easier than the Cathedral Trail. Hah!
I gotta see that one, as the Saddle goes down a boulder-strewn landslide path. Horrible in wet weather.
Took us forever to get to Chimney Pond, and it was still 3 miles out on a poor path from there. Took us
close to 12 hours total. Weather is everything here, and the "trails" are not really trails, just routes blazed
across rocks. Do not bring a friend here to introduce them to hiking.
