Denis Hanson's report is still fine. Note that Stratton Brook Road is signed "Pond Loop Road". Park at the lot 1.6 miles in, except that high clearance vehicles can drive another 1/2 mile or so to another lot just before the stream crossing. From the first lot, take the higher, more substantial jeep road, rather than the grassy two-tracker. I opted to hike directly to West Peak via the Firewarden's Trail and the AT. You will pass two privies and a couple of tent platforms along the way. Bugs were tolerable but were brutal on my previous attempt in July 2004.

Hiking times were 3:15 up and 2:40 down.
