Kalamazoo County Highpoint Trip Report
five areas - one with 1,050 foot BM (1,050+ ft)
three small areas - one with 1,056 foot BM (1,050+ ft)

I did the three points south of Kalamazoo first.
From I-94 at US-131, zero odometer.
0.0 I-94 at US-131 - Go south on US-131.
2.5 Exit 31 (Q Avenue) - Turn right (west) on Q Avenue.
2.6 12th Street S - Turn left (south).
3.6 R Avenue W - Turn right (west).
7.2 8607 R Avenue W - Park.
Get permission to hike 0.1 mile south, behind the house, down and up through
open woods to Point 1056 (on DeLorme map) for Area #1. Turn around and go back
on R Avenue W (east).
7.3 Gravel track on left - Turn left (north).
7.4 Park at the communications tower.
Hike through the grape vines 0.1 mile north. Areas #2 and #3 are in the grape field.
Check out the woods, also. Now for the five points to the north. Return to R Avenue W.
7.5 R Avenue W - Turn left (east).
10.7 12th Street S - Turn left (north).
11.7 Q Avenue - Turn right (east).
11.9 US-131 - Turn left (north).
14.4 I-94 - Continue north.
19.0 US-131, exit 38B at MI-43 - Turn left (west).
19.2 10th Street N - Turn right (north).
24.3 Twilingate Road - Turn left (west).
24.4 Signal Hill - Park.
I asked permission at #6429, then roamed the whole neighborhood on Signal Hill
and Torrington Road to get Area #4.
24.5 Nightingale Road at #2466 - Park.
I walked into the woods behind the house for Area #5 and then explored the
neighborhood. The roads in this community twist and turn all over the place and
it's easy to get turned around. The DeLorme Atlas only shows about half of the roads.
It's very confusing and even on the way out, I needed my GPS to have
some idea which direction I was heading. There are many candidates for the two
high point areas and, hopefully, I hit them all.
24.6 Drive back to Torrington Road - Turn right.
24.7 Wild Cherry Lane - Turn left.
24.8 Old Log Trail - Turn left.
25.2 Wingate Road - Turn right.
25.3 Twilingate Road - Turn left.
25.4 10th Street N - Turn left (north).
26.1 H Avenue - Turn left (west).
28.7 6th Street - Turn left (south).
28.9 Gravel track on the left - Turn left (east).
29.0 Water Tower fence - Park.
Walk around the fence to the left and up to the high point in 0.1 mile for area #6.
There are old broken down timbers surrounding a rock which is probably the
site of BM 1050. Return to 6th Street.
29.1 6th Street - Turn left (south).
29.2 House at #2699 6th Street - Park.
Got permission to hike 0.1 mile south to Areas #7 and #8.
I also walked behind the house and roamed around a bit.
