Manistee County Highpoint Trip Report

From US-31 at Nine Mile Road, zero odometer.

0.0 US-31 at Nine Mile Road - Go east on Nine Mile Road.

13.7 Marilla Road - Turn right (south).
16.2 Snowmobile track - This was gated and is 0.8 mile from area #1, an alternate route.
16.8 Pole Road - Turn left (east) onto dirt.
17.7 Track to the left signed FR-5482. This point is 1.1 miles south of Area #1.
I was able to drive this road but a high clearance vehicle is recommended.
18.6 Road coming in from the southeast - park.

Area #1 is 0.2 mile northeast and Area #2 is 0.2 mile farther northeast with a saddle between. The whole area is in open woods and quite enjoyable hiking. Meadows were covered in ferns. The forest road I was driving continued north and probably goes through to Brye Road. I saw a couple of woods tracks in addition to the snowmobile track but didn't check them out.
