Take paved road N from opposite Van Ripper SP, turn R at sign for McCormick Wilderness. Road ends almost immediately at bridge. I had planned to walk in a mile and bushwhack, but a posted map showed the North Country Trail making a 270-degree loop around the HP which is near the Forest boundary. Walk in about an hour, area is moderately wooded with lots of ups and downs and it was impossible to keep track of where I was.

Finally bushwhack up ridge ahead and find 11/12/13/14 section corner, HP is just a little way down ridge. Without section corner, I would never have been sure it was the right place. About 2 mile hike each way.
