Mecosta County Highpoint Trip Report

For once, Bob Schwab’s directions got me confused. I could not find the track 1.4 miles from US131, so I took the suggestion from his Newaygo report and took the small road listed as Lynn Drive by Delorme, almost directly across from the parking area for Newaygo. I followed it south for a mile or so, always keeping to the main track. This could be passable in a car if it were dry but it was pretty nasty after a week of heavy rain and required the use of 4-high.

I set out east with a waypoint set for the county line and the elusive HP. The trees barred me from getting a good GPS signal. I passed 2 small tracks in the woods near the county line. I proceeded to spend an hour in the 95 degree heat topping out on every little hillock that I could find in the area. I can't say which one it was definitively but I'm pretty sure I got it.
