Isanti County Highpoint Trip Report
Date: April 9, 2006
Author: Dan Richardson
I referenced Bob Packard's report, but found it a little vague, so I want to
tighten up the directions a little bit. From Crown, MN, which is at the
intersection of County Highway 8 and the northbound section of County Highway 7,
go west 1 mile to County Road 51/Llama Street NW. Go south from there 1 mile to
253rd Avenue NW. Go west on 253rd for a half-mile to Tiger Street NW. Go south
on Tiger for another half mile to the point where the gravel turns to a minimum
maintenance road. There's a farmhouse right at that point, on the west side of
the road.
It'll be easier to find the point if you park about 100 meters south of the
house, because then all you have to do is walk straight east for approximately
400 meters to the BM. Since it was still barely spring there wasn't much
vegetation to see through so it wasn't incredibly difficult to find the HP but,
if you come here in the middle of the summer, it's conceivable that you could
get lost in these woods, so it's nice if you carry a compass.
