Douglas County High Point Trip Report
one area with 1,703-foot BM Painter
Date: June 17, 2002

From Dogwood go southeast on 14 for 2.2 miles to junction with AK & O. Area is large and flat.
HP appears to level at the edge of the radio tower. All else seems lower. Could not locate BM by road at farmhouse,
perhaps in tall grass inside fence, spot is about 5 feet lower than radio tower. This is the 4th
highest cohp in MO, but it doesn't feel it.
Got a flat tire near here, probably from the northernmost area in Christian county. A local helped me out
with his iron & jack. I had brand new tires put on 2 weeks ago, and they swapped out a lug nut with one
that was too big for my iron. I'd have really been in trouble if this was in WY or somewhere, but we only
lost about 2 hours total counting fixing the flat in Ava to the east. MO roads have VERY sharp rocks on them,
which we saw all over the place. Caution!
